A Cycle Event That Stays Put But Goes The Distance For Charity

On Friday 7th September at 7am, the O’Callaghan Collection team will face the greatest challenge of their busy tourist season. This will be the morning, come rain or shine, that our hotel team will hop on their stationary bikes and treadmills outside two of our hotels; The Mont Clare Hotel on Merrion Square and The Green on Stephens Green, to begin a day of non-stop cycling for Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Irish Cancer Society.

Working in relays throughout the day, we’ll cover the leg-aching 612km distance from Malin to Mizen Head. We initially considered cycling the actual route, but there’s the small matterof leaving our hotel guests home alone.

While there’s no yellow jersey at the end of this particular day, our sights are set on an equally impressive goal; a fundraising target of €30,000 for the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Irish Cancer Society. For every €1 raised, O’Callaghan Collection will donate 50 cent and we are already well on our way with the very kind support of our partners and suppliers.

Here’s where you come in. No, you don’t need to grab your lycra shorts and get on your bike – though by all means, if you’re feeling energetic on the day, pop over to The Mont Clare Hotel or The Green and show us your moves. Mostly we’re asking you to donate whatever you can towards our two chosen charities. Full details on our GoFundMe page;

Between now and Friday 7th September, Team O’Callaghan Collection will be in training - at the very least, taking the hotel stairs instead of the lifts! We look forward to getting on our stationary bikes, water-bottles and carbs close by, and pedalling towards a successful fundraising-finish. We thank you in advance for your generous support.
