Ashford Castle Appoints Head Sommelier Pierre Marie Faure


The world renowned Ashford Castle Hotel is delighted to announce the appointment of Pierre Marie Faure as Head Sommelier. This is a prestigious role, managing one of Ireland’s most iconic wine cellars awarded ‘Two Glasses’ by Wine Spectator. Pierre joins the team of 350 staff, who maintain the reputation for impeccable service and warm hospitality at the historic Ashford Castle estate.

Pierre brings over 10 years’ experience within 5 star hospitality to his role at Ashford Castle, in addition to numerous industry awards and accolades. Prior to his appointment, Pierre was Head Sommelier at the 5 star Lanesborough Hotel in London and Head Sommelier at the 2 Michelin star awarded Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud. In 2017 Pierre was awarded the Advanced Sommelier Certificate from The Court of Master Sommeliers, achieving Top of the Class.

On his appointment Pierre said, “I am so excited to be working here, it has been an ambition for me ever since I first visited Ashford Castle. The cellar has been curated into the perfect place to age wine and our links to the Wild Geese producers as well as the Tollman Family boutique winery, Bouchard Finlayson, means we have an eclectic collection of superior wines to pair with our menus here at Ashford Castle.”
