Eddie Rocket's Wins National Hamburger Award
Eddie Rocket’s – the leading national hamburger restaurant chain – is the best in Ireland – and that’s official. The people have voted Eddie Rocket’s the Best Burger in a National Fast Food Chain as part of National Burger Day. Eddie Rocket’s fought off competition from all-comers to take the top award in the event organised by meat suppliers, KEPAK.

Almost 17,000 Irish burger enthusiasts cast their vote for the tastiest burger in the nationwide poll held in June. More than 500 food outlets nationwide – from high-end, gourmet burger restaurants to local takeaways – took part in the poll on National Burger Day but it was Eddie Rocket’s mouth-watering burger which took the big prize.
“It’s no surprise to us that we have the best hamburgers in a national chain”, explained Niall Fortune, founder of Eddie Rocket’s, “After all, we use only the Irish best beef and ingredients plus the attention to detail of our chefs.” He added: “We serve more than six million customers a year across our 42 restaurants around the country so we have a lot of satisfied people who vote with their tastebuds every day.”
But then Eddie Rocket’s is no stranger to awards: in 2017 the chain won the Franchise of the Year Award given by the Irish Franchise Association and has secured a place among Ireland’s Top 100 food companies both in terms of turnover and employee numbers.

The American-style diner chain was founded in 1989 by Niall Fortune and employs nearly 1,000 across its 42-strong chain: 37 restaurants in the Republic, four in Northern Ireland and one in Spain. Thirteen are company-owned with the remainder operated by franchisees. Eddie Rocket’s remains privately-owned and had sales of €53.5m in 2017.
