Campus Life Services at University of Limerick First to be Accredited for Excellence in Customer Ser

Campus Life Services at University of Limerick, who provide high-end accommodation and thousands of bed nights, has become the first University Campus to complete Fáilte Ireland’s Accredited Services Excellence Programme and to receive the Business Award to recognise a commitment to continuous service excellence provision.

Speaking at the presentation of the Accreditation, Dr. Dean Panter, National Development Manager with Enterprise & Hospitality at Fáilte Ireland said that the Programme is an important aspect of Fáilte Ireland’s business development and training supports.

“The Accredited Service Excellence Programme is aimed at helping tourism businesses strengthen competitiveness and to help differentiate Ireland from its international competitors as a location where the customer is at the centre of everything a business will do. It provides an opportunity for the Irish tourism industry to be recognised for ‘best in class’ customer service and great visitor experiences and we are delighted to present Campus Life Services at university of University with accreditation.”

The Programme is aimed at helping tourism businesses and attractions reach the highest standards in customer care, which can result in major benefits such as business growth, additional repeat business, increased visitor spend and positive recommendations.

John O’Rourke, Deputy Chief Operations Officer, Campus Life Services, University of Limerick, commented:

“At Campus Life Services, University of Limerick, we are committed to providing our visitors with consistently high quality services and strive to ensure a memorable guest experience. The Fáilte Ireland Service Excellence Programme is a perfect fit for our continual improvement ethos at Campus Life Services and helps copper fasten our high standards of service delivery where it matters most – at the front line.

Our team enjoyed the programme content, which had a particular emphasis on ensuring that our visitors have the best possible experience on our spectacular parkland campus here at UL and in our region along the Wild Atlantic Way. Excellence in service delivery and subsequent feedback from guests about our visitor experience shapes how we develop and evolve our service into the future therefore participation in the Fáilte Ireland Excellence Programme was an important choice for us.”

The Accredited Service Excellence Programme is suitable for all management and front facing staff in a tourism related business who come into contact with visitors. The Award can be achieved in three ways:

  • Individual Award – for individual staff upon completion of a full day or online workshop;

  • As a Business Award whereupon 75% of front facing staff have completed the Programme;

  • As a Destination Award - where a number of set criteria are met and where an agreed level of key businesses in the area have achieved the business award.
