Pallas Foods Is Top Of The Menu For Food Safety

Pallas Foods, a Sysco company, has become the first Irish company and the second in Europe to be awarded the highest level of food safety certification, the FSSC 22000. This award recognises the stringent food safety management system around the intake, storage, assembly and distribution of food products that Pallas Foods has in place to meet the highest standards of regulators in the foodservice and hospitality industries. Pallas Foods will be the first company in Ireland, the second in Europe and only the sixth company globally to achieve this certification.

“We are delighted to have achieved the FSSC 22000,” said Ian Smith, director of operations, Pallas Foods. “The entire Pallas Foods team prides themselves on delivering the best quality of service and products to our customers daily and for that I thank them. This award reflects their unwavering commitment to quality.”

FSSC 22000 certified companies must successfully complete a third-party audit, ensuring that their food safety systems meet stringent requirements. This certificate indicates that the organisation’s food safety system is in conformance with the requirements and that the organisation can maintain conformance with these requirements.

“Well done to Pallas Foods on achieving this certification standard,” said Geraldine Larkin, chief executive officer, National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI). “The FSSC 22000 is an internationally recognised ISO based scheme for food safety, to protect brands and safeguard public health. Pallas Foods have demonstrated that they have the robust processes in place to meet this strict certification.”
