NOX Hotel Galway Joins Georgina Campbell’s Breakfast Club By Winning Prestigious Irish Breakfast Awa

Forget Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Galway’s Nox Hotel is the ‘it’ place when it comes to starting your day in style. Nox Hotel, situated only a mile from Eyre Square in Galway City Centre, received a Highly Commended Irish Breakfast Award at the 2018 Georgina Campbell Irish Breakfast Awards, which took place at the InterContinental Hotel, Dublin, on Thursday, 22nd March.

With quirkily decorated public areas in vibrant tones of turquoise, gold and metallic, Nox Hotel is a youthful boutique hotel which has maintained itself as a lively spot, filling a niche, becoming a popular meeting place for a casual bite to eat or a drink in the busy open-plan bar, where craft beers and cocktails are the thing. There’s an emphasis on leisure travel, including families, at weekends, but weekday guests appreciate the in-room business amenities, free parking - and good food. A quick look at the video on their website shows visitors that they’re serious about the breakfast served in Fork Restaurant, which is cleverly pitched as a meeting place for non-residents as well as hotel guests - and the tempting buffet display, in particular, never fails to impress.

Celebrating the hotel’s new win, owner Diane Burke shared her delight:

“Breakfast may be the most modest meal of the day, but it is also the most important. As a child I would have been told it gives you strength for the day, but from our experience of the hospitality industry it is clear that breakfast also sets up the kind of day an individual will have—a well sourced, carefully prepared and enjoyable breakfast allows for a happier, lighter, guest who is looking on the brighter side of life. This is why at Nox Hotel we strive to ensure each and every person who comes to our Hotel and our Fork Restaurant is served with the best of food and friendly smile.”

The purpose of the Georgina Campbell Irish Breakfast Awards is to showcase the stellar standards of Irish food and hospitality industries, and to link the best Irish food producers with those who prepare and serve food to the public. Winners inspire others and encourage them to up their game, ultimately leading to everyone being able to enjoy an authentic breakfast experience that reflects the locality. Georgina Campbell’s Ireland’s rigorous programme of anonymous assessment visits continues all year and the resulting reports are then fed through to the respected independent website, Ireland-guide.com. Award winners are nominated solely by the assessment team. The Georgina Campbell Awards are Ireland's longest running independent hospitality awards. Georgina Campbell is President of the Irish Food Writers’ Guild and has been writing about and supporting local Irish food, hospitality and tourism since the 1970s in newspapers, guidebooks and cookbooks.

Nox Hotel’s new Irish Breakfast Award is more than just big news for their establishment, it lends itself to the reputation of the entire Galway area. At the awards Georgina also paid tribute to the Galway - West of Ireland European Region of Gastronomy 2018 designation, saying, “This recognition is very well deserved - and, as shown by our Awards, standards of food and hospitality are exceptionally high in this stunningly beautiful region.”
