211,000 Australians Read All About Galway In Popular Magazine

An article all about Galway has appeared in a popular Australian lifestyle magazine, profiling the city to its 211,000 readers – or potential Australian holidaymakers for Galway and the West of Ireland. New Idea is a weekly magazine in Australia and Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland invited journalist Jenny Brown to visit Ireland last summer. The resulting article appeared under the headline “Top 5 things to do in Galway: head to Ireland and discover the charms of this compact city”.

The article highlights some of Galway's world-class festivals including the Galway Film Fleadh, Galway International Arts Festival and Galway International Oyster Festival. It describes some of the many things to see and do in the city’s hinterland, including Connemara, the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher. The author wrote that “Galway is home to traditional Irish music, fine food, vibrant fun and the warmest of welcomes from friendly locals”.

“We are delighted with the article about Galway in New Idea magazine,” said Sofia Hansson, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Australia. “It’s an excellent way of showcasing Galway to a large audience of potential Australian holidaymakers, as we kick off our promotional programme for 2018 – helping us to spread the word about what a great place it is to visit and what makes a holiday in Galway so memorable. Publicity is an important element of our overall promotional programme, helping to raise awareness through the Australian media of the many things to see and do on a holiday in Ireland.”
