Statement From Joe Dolan, President, The Irish Hotel Federation
The following statement was made by Joe Dolan, President of the IHF, in relation to this morning’s announcement from Brussels on the Brexit Agreement:
"The Irish Hotels Federation welcomes the confirmation today that there will be no “hard border” with Northern Ireland and the Common Travel Area will be retained following the United Kingdom’s departure from the EU. This is a major boost for tourism across the island of Ireland and especially for the border counties, which are heavily reliant on visitors from Northern Ireland and Great Britain. Today’s announcement gives some certainty to issues that would directly impact tourism and threatened the continued development of this sector, which supports an estimated 230,000 jobs in Ireland, equivalent to 11% of total employment".
