Latest CSO Release - July - September 2017


In the period July - September 2017, the total number of trips to Ireland increased by 1.1% to 3,095,600 - an overall increase of 34,100 compared to the same period twelve months earlier. Trips by residents of Great Britain decreased by 7.3% to 1,065,200 while trips by residents of European Countries other than Great Britain (Other Europe) increased by 0.1% to 1,086,900.

Trips by residents of North America to Ireland increased by 14.9% to 732,600 while trips to Ireland from Other Areas increased by 10.9% to 210,900. The total number of overseas trips made by Irish residents during the period July - September 2017 increased by 10.7% to 2,495,000.The total number of trips (Irish residents’ trips overseas plus trips to Ireland) in the period July - September 2017 increased by 5.2% to 5,590,600 when compared with the same period twelve months earlier.

In the nine months to the end of September 2017, the total number of trips to Ireland increased by 2.9% when compared with the same period in 2016. Irish residents' trips overseas during the same period increased by 8.4%.
