Autumn Sales Blitz Targets Overseas Tour Operators.
Fáilte Ireland hosted the first in a series of custom-made workshops on Monday 18th September as part of a targeted 2018 sales drive to enable Irish tourism operators to pitch directly to the cream of the global travel industry. Over the next few weeks in excess of 200 Irish tourism businesses will engage in over 10,000 one-to-one meetings with approximately 100 important British, Canadian and Long Haul tour operators at workshops hosted by Fáilte Ireland in partnership with overseas marketing agency Tourism Ireland.
In the Hotel Westport, Co Mayo, a group of key British travel agents attended the first of these events, Fáilte Ireland’s ‘Great Britain Coach and Group Workshop’. Yesterday's event will be followed by:
A Canada Expo Workshop, Slieve Russell Hotel, Cavan (October 19th)
The UK Inbound Workshop, Sligo Radisson Hotel (October 25th)
Ciara Sugrue, Head of International Trade with Fáilte Ireland, stressed the benefits for the Irish trade involved:“This series of sales workshops will focus on attracting more overseas visitors from our key UK and Canadian markets as well as long haul visitors travelling via the UK . In terms of Britain, the workshops are part of Fáilte Ireland’s focus to continue pitching for the best British potential and off-set the challenges of Brexit. With regards to Canada, the sales drive seeks to capitalise on increased air access into Irelandand to develop opportunities for long haul destinations to include Ireland as a holiday experience.
“The visiting overseas travel agents have the capacity to deliver significant amounts of visitors to Ireland and their presence here is testimony to our enduring strong appeal as a destination and the variety and attractiveness of the Irish holiday. We are confident that the deals made over the next few weeks will assist ongoing growth in Irish tourism in 2018.”
To further showcase what Ireland can truly offer, Fáilte Ireland has also put together a number of specially crafted tailor-made tours for the travel agents to get out and about, to learn first-hand more about the country, and really get an authentic taste of what an Irish holiday can offer. These trips provide a great opportunity for overseas operators to experience first-hand the full-on Ireland experience and can play a key role in closing the deal and persuading these agents to choose Ireland as a holiday destination for their customers.
