700,000 Australians Saw The Banner County On The ‘Small Screen’
Images of Lisdoonvarna and Co Clare were beamed into the homes of some 700,000 Australians, in an episode of a popular Australian TV show called The Living Room. The show aired on Network Ten and featured an interview with matchmaker Willie Daly, as well as footage of the spectacular Co Clare scenery. Filming took place here last autumn and was supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

The Living Room is presented by Dr Chris Brown – an Australian veterinarian, TV personality and author, famously known as the ‘Bondi Vet’. In tomorrow’s episode, viewers will see Dr Chris chat with matchmaker Willie Daly in the famous Matchmaker Bar in Lisdoonvarna. Dr Chris and his team also visited the Cliffs of Moher during their time here. They enjoyed dinner in the Roadside Tavern and an overnight stay in the Wild Honey Inn in Lisdoonvarna.
Sofia Hansson, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Australia, said: “Tourism Ireland is delighted that Dr Chris and the team from The Living Room chose to film in Co Clare. With an audience of about 700,000 viewers per episode, it’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase Lisdoonvarna and Co Clare to a huge Australian audience. TV and film are recognised as strong influencers on prospective visitors and Tourism Ireland regularly works with TV and production companies around the world, to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes and films around the island of Ireland.”
