Ashford Castle Recognised At Inaugural Chad Clark Certified 25 Awards

Ashford Castle is delighted to announce that its magnificent Fairytale Castle Experience has been recognised as one of the top experiential travel offerings at the inaugural CHAD CLARK CERTIFIED 25, a first-of-its-kind annual initiative listing 25 of the world’s most premium and unique travel experiences and services. Winners of the inaugural awards were announced at a unique interactive ceremony attended by leading global travel professionals on 13th August at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

Chad Clark, owner of Chad Clark Travel Ventures, is a travel industry expert who has sought out the most prestigious travel experiences and aims to set the industry standard for luxury travel with the inauguration of the CHAD CLARK CERTIFIED 25.

Ashford Castle is particularly proud to be among the first recipients of this honour for its Fairytale Castle Experience which offers guests a luxury two-night stay in the original wing of the iconic 800-year old castle with a sumptuous dining experience in the Dungeon Restaurant, Afternoon Tea in the elegant Connaught Room and the opportunity to discover the ancient art of Falconry - one of the many activities to be enjoyed by guests on the Ashford Estate.

General Manager, Mr Niall Rochford commented: “We are honoured to have been recognised among the Top 25 travel experiences in the world by Chad Clark, who has himself carved a career as a highly regarded and influential travel expert worldwide. At Ashford Castle we strive to be the best in everything we do, and we aim to create the best possible experience for each guest we welcome through our doors. Our Fairytale Castle Experience offers guests the chance to experience the magic of Ashford Castle, offering the utmost in modern luxury and five-star hospitality in the unique setting of this historic castle. We are privileged to represent Ireland and Irish tourism internationally as the only Irish property to be included in this inaugural list.”

Once home to the Guinness family for over 100 years, the five-star property and its 350 acre estate in County Mayo, Ireland offers guests the ultimate luxury resort vacation, boasting elegantly appointed rooms and suites, fine dining and acclaimed Irish hospitality on a grand scale. The estate’s expansive grounds provide the perfect playground for a wealth of outdoor pursuits such as golf, horse-riding, kayaking, cycling, ziplining, fishing, clay shooting and flying a hawk at Ireland’s first Falconry School.

Following a three-year restoration of the 800-year-old building, the hotel reopened to guests in April 2015, modernised and enhanced far beyond the requisite standards of a leading luxury hotel, while retaining the original features and essence of the castle’s history. The careful restoration process included the addition of new facilities such as a 32-seat Cinema, Billiards Room, Cigar Terrace, Wine Cellar and conservatory which houses a Spa, Gym and ozone-filtrated Pool. Since reopening its doors in April 2016, notable accolades including ‘Opening of the Year’ at the 2015 European Hospitality Awards and ‘Hotel of the Year 2016’ by luxury travel network Virtuoso, has firmly re-established Ashford Castle as one of the world’s most prestigious hotel resorts.
