Meet Von Hallers Gin...Hand-picked Botanicals From Germany…Slow-distilled In Ireland

Dalcassian Wines & Spirits has launched Von Hallers Gin. Born in one of the world’s oldest botanical gardens in Göttingen, Germany and slow-distilled at The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo , Co. Leitrim, Von Hallers Gin is a new legend in the making.Just over a year ago Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin took the country by storm and now its curious creator, PJ Rigney, has embarked on an extraordinary new botanical journey with his good German friend, Count Carl Von Hardenberg Jr.

Carl came over to learn hand-distillation at The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim, where he discovered Irish botanicals and distilling with gleaming medieval copper pot stills. He developed a close attachment to the wild North West of Ireland and upon his return to Germany he began to dream of a recipe that would combine the meticulous approach of his homeland with the freedom and inventiveness of Ireland.

The quest began at one of the world’s oldest botanical gardens in Göttingen – where Carl handpicked german ginger and lemon verbena and brought them to The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo to be slow-distilled by hand with fresh Irish Angelica.

The result is Von Hallers small-batch gin, aromatic, distinctive and pure. Named after the celebrated 18th century botanist Albrecht Von Haller, also the namesake of one of the gin’s botanicals – Halleria Lucida, which is grown in the botanical gardens which he founded.

Only available in Germany and Ireland through Dalcassian Wines & Spirits, who are the distributors for the product, the precious Von Hallers Gin is a treasure for gin aficionados, designed for very special occasions and as a meaningful gift for gin connoisseurs who appreciate the rare and remarkable.

Von Hallers is exquisite served with premium ginger beer, large ice cubes and a small wedge of orange. This signature serve, developed around two of the gin’s core botanicals – German ginger and orange zest - is best enjoyed over time, slowly, sip by sip.
