Trips to Ireland Increased by 0.1% For The Period February - April 2017
In the period February - April 2017, the total number of trips to Ireland increased by 0.1% to 2,065,100 - an overall increase of 2,600 compared to the same period twelve months earlier. See tables 1 and 2. Trips by residents of Great Britain decreased by 10.7% to 855,800 while trips by residents of European Countries other than Great Britain (Other Europe) increased by 2.2% to 741,800. Trips by residents of North America to Ireland increased by 25.7% to 357,900 while trips to Ireland from Other Areas increased by 16.7% to 109,700.
The total number of overseas trips made by Irish residents during the period February - April 2017 increased by 11.9% to 1,737,500. The total number of trips (Irish residents’ trips overseas plus trips to Ireland) in the period February - April 2017 increased by 5.2% to 3,802,600 when compared with the same period twelve months earlier.
