Refurbishment of Historical Harland & Wolff Buildings in Belfast to the New Titanic Boutique Hot

ADI Studio were appointed as the Interior Designers for the refurbishment of the historical Harland & Wolff Drawing Offices and Headquarter buildings in Belfast to the new 4 star boutique Titanic Hotel. It is housed in a Grade B+ listed building, built in phases between 1886-1922. The project has received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund under a new enterprise scheme which will support the restoration of the Drawing Offices for commercial use.

The two highly decorated Drawing offices, built in 1889, as well as being a functional space for the naval engineers, were also built as a showcase of the quality and splendour H&W could produce in their ships. They are the most decorated rooms in the collection of buildings and will serve as the new Banquet room and lounge bar. Other offerings include Tea Rooms, restaurant & private dining, cocktail bar, boardrooms and heritage meeting rooms whose walls are steeped in shipyard business history.

The bedroom interiors have been influenced by the art of shipbuilding featuring original riveted metal beams and specially made tiling replicating those used in the most luxurious of the liners designed by H&W. The industrial theme that runs through the bedrooms also flows to the new pavilions on the ground floor. As there is huge interest Internationally in the H&W shipyard and in particular in the ill fated Titanic, there is a heavy emphasis on the heritage visitor & much has been done to tell the entire story of H&W’s influence on the world of shipbuilding. In conjunction with Titanic Quarter Ltd, Titanic Foundation Ltd, and a highly talented design team, we have endeavoured to integrate the history within the interior scheme. The hotel is due to open late Summer 2017.
