Food & Drink at Bloom – Just a Taste of What’s in store!

When a festival or event is run by Bord Bia, you can be guaranteed a good food and drink experience! This year’s Bloom will be no exception with over 100 local food and drink producers onsite, many of Ireland’s top chefs and a whole host of stages and features for those looking to learn!

The social media phenomenon that is #FoodPorn, the rise in the popularity of premium Irish Gin, and the so called “clean eating” craze which has swept our shores, are among some of the hot topics to be discussed and debated in the ever-popular Food Village which will once again be a key feature at Bloom 2017. Alongside more Ireland’s leading food and drink producers, the Food Village will host some of our best-known chefs, commentators and health experts, including Neven Maguire, Catherine Fulvio, Edward Hayden, Rory O’Connell, Paul Flynn, Roz Purcell, Donal O’Shea, Aoife Hearne and Paula Mee, who will participate in over 80 live talks, debates, workshops and cookery demonstrations. Ireland’s Olympic rowing heroes Paul and Gary O’Donovan will also visit Bloom on Friday (June 2nd) to kick start Bord Bia’s 2017 Eggs Campaign. The popular duo will be cooking up some delicious egg recipes with food blogger Roz Purcell at the Quality Kitchen Stage. Eggs are a particularly important part in their protein-rich diet and as part of a healthy, balanced diet lifestyle. Don’t miss this demo and in the meantime, check out www.bordbia.ie for recipe inspiration and videos.

This year Bloom will include 33 new food and drink exhibitors and a range of new product launches including the introduction of six new Irish gin products. Bord Bia also use Bloom as an business to business promotional opportunity. The Food Village will once again be a hub for trade hosting more than 200 Irish and international trade buyers with a combined purchasing power of over €10 billion. Get your “7 a day” under the rainbow at Bloom We all know the role that fruit and vegetables play in a healthy balanced diet but do we know how to get the newly recommended target of “7 a day” portions of fruit and vegetables into our daily diet? Do not fear because this year Bloom will be hosting a distinct feature depicting all the colours of the rainbow that will educate visitors how, with a little advice and imagination, to make the “7 a day” target achievable. The multi coloured exterior will not only help you locate this feature easily but remind visitors that a daily diet of fruit and vegetables that feature every colour of the rainbow will provide all the daily goodness you need from your “greens”. A daily programme of talks and demonstrations will provide hints and tips on how healthy fresh produce can be grown, prepared and cooked in simple and convenient ways. From Saturday to Monday well-known TV dietician Aoife Hearne will be on hand with top tips and information on nutritional content of fruit and vegetables. The feature will also highlight the range of Bord Bia fresh produce promotional campaigns across potatoes, mushrooms, fruit and vegetables and how visitors can get information on how to prepare and cook these wonderful healthy ingredients in new and exciting ways.
