Cork’s Peter O’Keeffe Wins The Flogas Pro Am Cup at Royal County Down
On Sunday 14 May, Flogas managing director John Rooney was delighted to present the Flogas Irish Amateur Open trophy to 35 year old Peter O’Keeffe from Douglas Golf Club in Cork at the conclusion of the three-day competition in the Royal County Down Golf Club. Second was Scotland’s Christopher MacLean with England’s Tom Sloman in third place out of an international field that included players from the United States, Germany, New Zealand, Denmark and the Netherlands.
A Championship that has witnessed victories by the greatest names in Irish amateur golf during its 125-year history, the Flogas Irish Amateur Open Championship returned to Royal County Down for the first time since 1959. With a roll of honour that included champions like Ireland’s Padraig Harrington and South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen, the Flogas Irish Amateur Open is Ireland's blue riband event. John Rooney said, “Congratulations to Peter on his well-deserved win. We’re delighted to be involved once again in what is always an immensely exciting competition for players and spectators alike. We wish Peter the best of luck for the future.”
